Exhibition by Committee Members of LAS – entitled Sea, Sky and Words of Wisdom at Friarsgate Theatre, Kilmallock.

In previous years, a charity exhibition has been held on St.Patricks week-end.
The Society maintains its longstanding tradition of hosting the Limerick Art Society Annual Exhibition in the Limerick City Gallery of Art, in Pery Square, towards the end of each year.

Over the years, the Limerick Art Society has hosted Art Exhibitions at venues of artistic and historical significance to Limerick, including The City Hall, The Bishop’s Palace and The Hunt Museum.

In 2005, Dr. Thomas Ryan invited the Members of Limerick Art Society to visit him at his home and treated them to a tour around his studio –an unforgettable event!

In 2000, Society Members travelled to Dublin to attend Dr. Thomas Ryan’s memorable “Retrospective Exhibition”, in the Royal Hibernian Academy. It consisted of some 180 paintings, including sculptures. Society members were treated to a guided talk by Dr. Ryan who led them through the entire Exhibition. Dr. Ryan’s demonstration was entertaining and helpful, with every painting accompanied by a witty story. A most enjoyable learning experience!
In 1992, the President of Ireland, Dr. Mary Robinson performed the Opening Ceremony of the Society’s “Golden Jubilee Exhibition” in the Limerick City Gallery of Art.
In the early 1970’s, The President of Ireland, Erskine H. Childers performed the Opening Ceremony of the Society’s Annual Exhibition. |
